THE HIVE - Vital Signs Album Cover:

This project was an album cover for my a cappella group’s new album. We aimed to create a cover that was more than just a basic vector design. I used Adobe Photoshop for the project without transferring any elements from Illustrator.

I started by collecting a large log in the woods behind my apartment. Using a starter survival kit, I cut and carved the wood into blocks, then stained and sanded it. After that, I set up the blocks and photographed them with honey dripping onto them. I cleaned up the image and created a reflection to make it appear like the blocks were sitting on a base. After turning in the assignment, I adjusted some of the colors to adhere to my liking rather than a rubric I was required to follow.

Overall, this was my first experience combining virtual design with a hands-on project, and I found it to be a lot of fun! This was the first time I restricted myself to Photoshop for the entire project, and it was challenging but rewarding.
